Public Art 101 is a day-long workshop for artists ready to learn more about how to work in the public realm. Through this workshop, artists will gain critical information they need to propose and complete public art projects.
Artists will learn:
- how to find public art opportunities
- what to expect from a public art contract
- how to work with fabricators
- how to choose appropriate materials
- how to create a project budget
The Office of Public Art has invited nationally recognized public art experts to lead the workshop. Presenters include Janet Zweig, artist, Brooklyn, NY; Jen Delos Reyes, Assistant Professor of Art and Social Practice at Portland State University, Portland, OR; Charlotte Cohen, public art advisor, Brooklyn, NY; Sarah Conley Odenkirk, attorney and author of A Surprisingly Interesting Book about Contracts, Studio City, CA; and Office of Public Art staff Renee Piechocki and Kate Hansen.
