As the nonprofit sector struggles with the impact of America's current economic downturn the Arts Council has compiled the following list of resources, strategies and articles to help the local cultural community to deal with the situation. Pittsburgh Economic Snapshot Surveys
 

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, in partnership with Theatre Communications Group (TCG) and the Association of Performing Arts Service Organizations (APASO), is conducting short fiscal snapshot surveys to get an up-to-the-minute sense of how arts/culture institution is faring during the economic downturn. This will give us an unprecedented glimpse of the fiscal health of the sector at both a local and a national level.

General Resources
  LINC is conducting an Artists in the Recession Survey to make sure the conditions artists are facing in the current economic climate are being heard and addressed.
   
  The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has released their guidelines for the Economic Recovery grants. Information on the grant programs can be found on the NEA website.
   
  The Kennedy Center has launched Arts in Crisis, a program designed to provide planning assistance and consulting to struggling arts organizations throughout the United States. Open to non-profit 501(c)(3) performing arts organizations, the program will provide counsel from Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser and the Kennedy Center executive staff in the areas of fundraising, building more effective Boards of Trustees, budgeting, marketing, technology, and other areas pertinent to maintaining a vital performing arts organization during a troubled economy.
   
  National Assembly of State Arts Agencies has created an excellent summary of the Arts Opportunities in the Economic Stimulus Package.
   
  The National Council of Nonprofits has launched its Nonprofit Economic Vitality Center. This web-based resource is designed to help nonprofits cope with and survive in the tough economy.
   
  The Foundation Center offers Focus on the Economic Crisis, a web-based clearinghouse of articles, commentary, research advisories, and news. The Foundation Center's blog, PhilanTopic, also includes commentary related to the economy.
   
  How Charities Cope with a Troubled Economy is a list of resources, statistics, and live discussions to help you learn about how charities are dealing with a turbulent economy. Brought to you by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
   
  The Economic Crisis: Centralized Information Resources for Funders and Nonprofits - Associated Grant Makers regularly updates this list of resources available to keep you current on the impact that the financial crisis is having on nonprofits.
