What's this grant all about?

1. Every year, your legislators vote on how much money to give to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
2. The Council then gives the money to local "partners" like us. (That's why they call it "PA Partners".)
3. We pass the money onto local artists and/or arts groups through an application process. It works like this:

    a. Read the guidelines to see if your project is eligible. Please come to our Info Session as well!
    b. Submit an application for up to $3,000. You do this through our online system called eGrant.
    c. Once you complete the online application, you will print and mail it to the us by June 18, 2010.
    d. A panel of arts community members will score applications based on the guidelines (see p. 6-7).
    e. Award winners will be notified in September 2010!

About PA Partners:

Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PA Partners) is a regranting program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), administered in Allegheny County by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. Its goal is to make arts programs available to every Commonwealth resident, with a focus on previously underserved communities and regions in Pennsylvania. PA Partners provides grants of up to $3,000 for arts projects that take place in Allegheny County. All projects must be publicized and open to the general public, and must take place between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011. The application postmark deadline is June 19, 2009.

The PCA's goals for PA Partners are to:

  • Expand access to the arts by (a) making programs available to communities that may have been underserved in the past by state arts funding, and (b) supporting a wide variety of arts activities in the community that have been developed in a variety of local settings
  • Encourage local decision-making in regranting of state arts dollars
  • Increase awareness of and advocacy for government support and funding of the arts at the local and state levels
  • Enable the PCA to provide increased assistance to its broad constituency throughout the state

How will your application do at panel? Score Yourself!

Sometimes it's hard to judge how well you've done. Before you submit your application, we highly recommend that you give it to a friend or colleague and ask them to score it based on the following criteria. Remember that it's your job to make a strong case before the panel! Here are the criteria:

  • Quality of the work represented by the work sample, support materials, and/or venue of activities (if applicable)
