About
PA Partners:
Pennsylvania
Partners in the Arts (PA Partners) is a regranting program
of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) and administered
in Allegheny County by the Arts Council. Its goal is to make
arts programs available to every Commonwealth resident, with
a focus on previously underserved communities and regions
in Pennsylvania. PA Partners provides grants of up to $3,000
for arts projects that take place in Allegheny County. All
projects must be publicized and open to the general public,
and must take place between September 1, 2008 and August 31,
2009. The application postmark deadline is June 30, 2008.
The
PCA's goals for PA Partners are to:
- Expand
access to the arts by (a) making programs available to communities
that may have been underserved in the past by state arts
funding, and (b) supporting a wide variety of arts activities
in the community that have been developed in a variety of
local settings
-
Encourage
local decision-making in regranting of state arts dollars
- Increase awareness of and advocacy for government support
and funding of the arts at the local and state levels
- Enable
the PCA to provide increased assistance to its broad constituency
throughout the state
In
addition, the Arts Council's priorities for regranting PA
Partners funds are to:
- Provide
new opportunities for the work of emerging arts organizations
and individual artists to be seen and appreciated by county
residents
- Foster
quality arts projects that take place in community settings
- Provide
increased opportunities for underserved populations in the
county - especially senior citizens and persons
of color - to participate in and benefit from the arts both
as artists and as audience members
PA Partners recognizes that quality arts activities
may take place in a variety of settings and be successfully
presented by a wide range of organizations and associations,
as well as by individual artists and consortia of artists.
Therefore, eligible applicants may include organizations whose
primary mission is not artistic, but which present arts programming
that involves participation by professional or avocational
artists who work to achieve high artistic standards.
Eligible applicants include:
- Nonprofit arts organizations that have
nonprofit 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service
- Emerging arts organizations, including those that have
applied for but have not yet received 501(c)(3) status
- Community-based organizations, entities of local government
and churches/faith-based organizations that present arts
activities to promote artistic enrichment and appreciation
for Allegheny County residents
- Individual artists or consortia of artists who present
arts activities for the purpose of promoting artistic enrichment
and appreciation to residents of Allegheny County communities
Since
PA Partners in the Arts' goal is to increase access to the
arts by Allegheny County residents, it is not able to support
activities that are conducted by, with, or in venues owned
and/or operated by organizations that the PCA already supports
through the Program Stream, AOAP or Entry Track. For more
information, contact Susan
Blackman, Director of Grant Programs, at 412.391.2060.
PA Partners in the Arts also makes grants to organizations through
its Program Stream. This funding program is by invitation only.
