Saugatuck, MI + Oxbow Residency***NEW

2010, Ox-Bow will celebrate 100 years as a school of art and artists' residency. As part of the year-ling celebration, Ox-Bow will offer three artists two-week residencies during the early part of the 2010 summer session. Centennial Residents will receive a private studio, room and board, as well as a $1000 stipend to be used towards expenses. The residencies will take place in two-week shifts from early June until early July, culminating in an exhibition of all Centennial Residents' work in one of Ox-Bow's galleries. The exhibition will open on the evening of the 2010 Summer Benefit, which will serve as the kick-off for a year-long celebration of Ox-Bow's history and legacy. Centennial Residents will be asked to donate one piece of work completed during the residency to be auctioned off at the benefit. All those applying for a two-week residency will be considered for this award.

Mid-Atlantic States + ArtsCONNECT***NEW

ArtsCONNECT supports performing arts tours across the mid-Atlantic region developed through consortia of presenting organizations. Eligible presenters must be based in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Presenters should read the current program guidelines carefully before starting and submitting an application.

The Women In Film Foundation’s Film Finishing Fund (WIFF FFF) supports films by, for or about women by providing cash grants of up to $15,000 and in-kind services. New York, NY + Studio Residency Program for Emerging Visual Artists and Writers

Workspace is a nine-month studio residency program for emerging visual artists and writers focused on the creative process. Residents receive free studio space in Lower Manhattan for nine months, a modest one-time stipend (depending on funding), access to a community of peers, meetings and studio visits with arts and literary professionals, and exposure to new audiences through open studios and other public programs. Information sessions: Wednesday, February 17, 4PM at 125 Maiden Lane and Wednesday, March 10, 7PM at 125 Maiden Lane.

Pittsburgh, PA + Tough Art Residency***NEW

The Tough Art residency program seeks to connect emerging artists from across the spectrum of all the arts to the resources at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

The artists:

-Engage museum professionals in critical dialog as it relates to their work

-Generate and implement interactive, immersive and/or collaborative projects

-Connect the art making process to the larger museum context and the museum visitor

Across the residency, artists:

-Take a piece they have already made/conceptualized and work with the Children’s Museum staff to make the piece more accessible and/or robust for the general public, and/or

-Create an entirely new piece to be incorporated into the facility and/or programs with direct impact on the visitor experience.

Grand Canyon, AZ + Grand Canyon National Park Residency

Whether you are a traditionalist in the vein of Thomas Moran or a contemporary artist creating new paths towards understanding both environmental and cultural issues, you are welcome here. The Artist-in-Residence Program offers professional artists the opportunity to spend three weeks on either the North or South Rim of Grand Canyon in housing provided by the National Park Service. The North Rim AiR program is seasonal, with six residencies during the spring, summer, and fall. The South Rim AiR program is year-round, providing twelve artist opportunities.

The SRO Photo Gallery annually hosts a competition to fill eight photographic art solo exhibition slots. Portfolios are viewed and considered by a committee of the Photography Division of the School of Art and the Director of Landmark Arts.

We look for strong portfolios utilizing photography in all styles, techniques, and aesthetic approaches. Consistency in the work as well as creative vision is important in the selection process. A brochure listing the selected artists, with an example of their work, and exhibition dates is published annually and distributed locally and nationally. Emphasis Interiors rethinks residential design by bringing meaning and content to everyday life. It is not just about romance! n a k e d is an art and interiors exhibit that considers all the meanings of the word. Incorporating 2 & 3D artworks of glass and other materials, both representational and abstracted, with sensual fibers & textures, this Emphasis ARTShow explores issues of intimacy and relationship. The characteristics of glass, its translucency, elegant curvatures and potential as a vessel, provide n a k e d a meaningful textural contrast to enhance the theme. In conjunction with the exhibition, the Pittsburgh Glass Center will be holding a special glass blowing demonstration on Saturday, April 10 at 1pm for $10/person.

Willaimsport, PA + Pajama Factory Residency Program***NEW

The Artist-in-Residence Program is designed to provide both emerging and established visual artists a place to grow creatively, as they work freely within the 300,000 square feet of rejuvenated industrial building that is the Pajama Factory. The length of stay, as determined by the artist, is 4 weeks or 8 weeks during the months of June and July. The main focus of the PAA Artist-in-Residence Program is to encourage and support the creative development of the artists. Selected artists in turn are invited to give back to both the Public Art Academy and the Pajama Factory by taking an active role in the building’s creative community.

Artists living in Allegheny County with an annual income of <$27,075 are eligible for assistance through Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA). VLA provides low-income artists with pro bono assistance for arts-related legal needs.  VLA attorneys assist with copyright, contract, intellectual property and other needs.
