We're making some improvements, and Update is going quarterly!

You've come to rely on Update for arts community news and listings, and we're taking steps to increase the quality and efficiency of both. To begin, we're turning Update into a quarterly publication, which will allow us the time to deepen feature articles and include other voices from around the arts community (for an example, see the letter from the Pittsburgh Foundation's Germaine Williams in the January Issue.) The next issue will arrive in April 2009.

Secondly, we recognize that your work demands access to arts classified listings in real-time, without waiting for a monthly deadline. To bring you current information as you need it, listing information will be distributed electronically through the channels identified below. Update no longer accept listings, effective immediately.

Where do I submit my listings now?

Your information is important to us, and we want to help you spread the word effectively! We think you'll find this new system a great to get the most out of your posting efforts:

Announcements - Did you or your organization receive a significant award? Have you formed a notable collaboration or come up with an innovative program? Are you moving to an exciting new location? To have your idea considered for a feature Update article, email a press release or story idea to Update Editor David Seals (subject to editorial selection.)

Calls for Artists - Looking for artists? The Artist Opportunities Listserv goes out monthly via email and is maintained by the Office of Public Art. To submit your call for artists, email Lea Donatelli. You can also browse local artists online at the Pittsburgh Artist Registry.

Free Lectures - Free or paid lectures and all other events can be submitted to the Arts Pittsburgh Events Listing, a weekly email listserv that reaches a wide variety of arts patrons. Submit your event using our online form (Arts Council members only.)

Grant Opportunities - Are you giving out an arts-related grant with an upcoming application deadline? These listings are tentatively scheduled to be added at our arts classified website, ArtsWorks.org, beginning in February 2009. Please check back for details.

Spaces Available - Do you have an art space available for rent or sale? These listings are tentatively scheduled to be added at our arts classified website, ArtsWorks.org, beginning in February 2009. Please check back for details.

Publications - Are you launching a new publication that the community should know about? Send a press release or story idea to Update Editor David Seals (subject to editorial selection.)

New Faces - We're expanding this section! If you would like to announce a new senior staff or board member, please send your announcement (with a 100-word bio and high-resolution head-shot) to Update Editor David Seals.
Do you still have questions? Email the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.
