Coming This Summer: Grant Opportunities for Artists and Arts Organizations

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council is pleased to announce the opening dates for two upcoming arts and culture grants, offering funding opportunities for individual artists and arts organizations in Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, and Washington counties.

Artist Income Recovery Grant

The Artist Income Recovery (AIR) Grant is a new initiative designed to support the economic recovery of individual artists and arts & culture professionals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through a one-time $3,000 grant.

Funding for this grant is provided by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). These funds aim to ensure the stability and recovery of the Commonwealth’s arts and culture sector from the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 80 grants will be awarded through this program. In alignment with the Arts Council's equity goals, 51% of the funds available for distribution will be reserved for Black, Indigenous, or persons of color.

Applications for the Air Income Recovery Grant will open on July 1, 2024, and will be due on August 1, 2024.

To help artists prepare ahead of the application opening, the Arts Council is hosting a free AIR Grant Info Session on Wednesday, June 12, from 6-7 p.m. on Zoom. During the session, Program Specialist Mona Wiley will outline important information about the grant program including grant guidelines, program goals, eligibility criteria, and more. Those interested in receiving one-on-one assistance can reserve a 30-minute slot during Virtual Coffee Shop Hours on Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10.

Creative Sector Flex Fund

The Creative Sector Flex Fund (CSFF), which awarded $150,000 in grants to 30 regional arts organizations in February 2024, will provide $5,000 grants to arts organizations with average annual revenues between $10,000 - $200,000.

This returning grant program from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts offers grantees the flexibility to use the funds in ways that ensure the greatest impact for their organizations and communities. Eligible uses of funds are flexible, including the support of applicants’ administrative, programmatic, and project-related expenses.

Applications for the Creative Sector Flex Fund will open on August 5, 2024, and close on September 2, 2024.
