Let Us (Re)introduce Ourselves: Announcing the Findings of Our 5-Year Strategic Plan
Let us (re)introduce ourselves.
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council builds a more resourced, connected, and informed arts sector, empowering artists and arts organizations throughout Southwestern PA. By sharing resources, fostering significant relationships, leading advocacy initiatives, and increasing public awareness of arts and culture, the Arts Council cultivates a thriving, vibrant arts community for the Greater Pittsburgh region.
This new mission statement, developed as part of our new 5-year strategic plan, is just the beginning.
Our goal throughout our strategic planning process, developed in collaboration with Workhorse Collaborative and Shannon Parris Consulting, has been to respond to the needs of the local arts ecosystem. With the help of your support and input, we’re thrilled to announce our full findings.
Review our full report to learn more about our planning process and future plans for fiscal years 2025-29. Short on time? Check out our strategic plan highlights.
In both reports, you’ll read how we’re learning from our past mistakes, centering our role as a “switchboard operator,” making a significant investment in membership support, increasing public awareness of arts and culture in our region, advocating for arts-centric policies and funding, and more.
As part of this new 5-year strategic plan, our organization is committing to public updates via annual Town Halls in an effort to be more transparent, communicative, and accountable to the community.
Please join us for our first Town Hall on Thursday, September 12 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Alumni Theater Company in Homewood.
During this Town Hall, Arts Council CEO Patrick Fisher and COO Mia Hooper will host a panel discussion with Board members Thomas Agnew, Nayli Russo-Long, and Michael Sawyer. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the strategic plan, including what we’re doing, how we’re doing it, and who's making the decisions. We’ll also provide space for questions and comments from the community.
Those interested in submitting a question or comment about the plan ahead of the event, or those who cannot attend the event in person, can fill out our Strategic Plan Feedback form.
After the Town Hall, community members are invited to stay for The Creative Hive, our monthly free arts networking event designed to provide a friendly and casual space for artists, creatives, art educators, culture bearers, and arts administrators to establish and foster professional relationships. (Our staff has met so many wonderful members of the region’s arts sector since launching The Creative Hive in January 2024, and we’re excited to announce the event series is continuing as part of our strategic plan.)
