Spotify Playlist: Music Sounds Better Outside

Outdoor event season in the City of Bridges is quickly coming to an end. Before the next Pittsburgh winter makes its descent, heighten your next tailgate, concert pregame, festival, or open-air affair with the following tunes that include selections that will both wind you up and cool you down.

Featured songs:

Deej - “Top Boy - Remix”

Low energy? No problem! Kickstart your day or event plans with rapper/singer Deej’s “Top Boy - Remix.” This high-energy track is perfect for getting a crowd – and you! – pumped up. Already a jam when the single debuted in 2020, it became even more vivacious with the 2022 addition of Rich The Kid.

Kilo - “Your Independence”

Who can resist the sweet, intoxicating allure of Afrobeats? Kilo’s global fusion of dancehall, house, and jazz in “Your Independence” will bring the sunshine to any outdoor gathering, regardless of Pittsburgh's fickle weather.

G.N.M - “REVOLUTION thats the vibe”

From G.N.M’s 2023 album, Manufactured Edge, comes this track that is anything but cookie cutter. “REVOLUTION thats the vibe” weaves elements of pop and trip-hop to create a sultry voyage that moves you away from the conventional.

Cam Chambers - “Nuedae”

There’s just something about Cam Chambers's “Nuedae” — the first single he ever released — that continuously hits all the right pleasure centers — a good day, guaranteed.

Jord The Animal Steal - “Sapling”

Drawing inspiration from hip-hop greats like Kool Keith, Beastie Boys, Latryx, and Edan, “Sapling” opens Jord The Animal Steal’s Expressions by Vern, a throwback to the trippy abstract rap that defined a generation of new sounds.

Odell Lancaster - “Starlight”

With “Starlight,” Pittsburgh transplant Odeel Lancaster, who also goes by Jack Lancaster, offers a vibey background tune that doesn’t overwhelm, allowing the conversations to flow without interruption. Think of it as elevated elevator music — pun very much intended.

Mythie - “reunion”

On the flip side, if you’d prefer something that makes the brain stop and instead infects you with a body-gyrating virus, hit play on Mythie’s glitchy “reunion.”

Chet Vincent - “Toledo”

What’s more hype-inducing than a guitar solo? The one featured in Chet Vincent’s “Toledo” is, simply put, epic, leaving you feeling exhilarated.

Halloway - “fairweather friends”

Hopefully, the people you’re hanging with aren’t like the title of bedroom pop artist Halloway’s newest track, “fairweather friends.” Maybe her gentle, airy vocals will bring you closer together if they are.

The Dreadtones - “Break Up Beach”

If anyone has ever told you surf rock is a summer/beach genre, don't listen to them! The Dreadtones says their latest release is “a homage to the ending of summer, and the anticipation as we enter the SPOOKY season.” “Break Up Beach” also serves as the perfect wind-down song at the end of a gathering.
