Launching, Today: The Lift Grant, a New Fund for Regional Artists
Pittsburgh, PA, August 28, 2017…..Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council officially announces a new grant program for artists, organizations, and artistic collaborations: the Lift Grant. Lift Grants of $5,000 - $20,000 will be awarded twice annually through the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council thanks to a generous grant from the Hillman Foundation. Lift Grants are open to artists, organizations, nonprofits, and artistic collaborations with budgets of $750,000 or less in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. The grant is not for operational support, nor for ongoing, regularly scheduled projects. Instead, Lift Grants are meant to help artists and organizations create unique projects that will propel artistic careers to the next level. Grant information, eligibility, and guidelines are online, and the application itself will be live on September 8, 2017. The application deadline will be October 27, 2017 at 11:59pm. Information sessions, free and open to the public, are listed, below. Additional office hours with Anne Mulgrave, Manager of Grants and Accessibility, are also available.
Mitch Swain, CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, enthuses, “Pittsburgh is home to a burgeoning scene of creative professionals and art – in fact, more artists per capita than any other American city our size. This unique grant program offers an exciting opportunity to support artists and smaller arts organizations, helping them boost their creative careers, which in turn helps the entire arts community become even more vibrant and productive.“
