Bio
Primary focus: Gathering and using data to tell our sector's story, using that data to help create change
You might know me from: Carnegie Mellon's Heinz College Arts Management program; North Side neighborhood work; a decades-long commitment to studying, performing, consuming, and teaching music of all sorts
Artistic Practices: I don't perform as often these days, but songwriting is still a medium I use to process my own feelings and experiences. Anyone who spends enough time around me will also know that I sing constantly.
Astrological sign: Leo
Best concert I've ever attended: In 2008, I got to check off a major bucket list item when I saw My Bloody Valentine perform on a reunion tour that I never thought would happen. I remember laughing when the ushers handed us earplugs as we walked in, but we sure needed them. It was the loudest thing I've ever heard. I remember wandering through the streets of Chicago for about 30 minutes afterwards because I was so overtaken by the whole experience. I've been to many, many great concerts, but that one sticks with me in a special way.
Where you might spot me: At a record store with my partner browsing the new used section; at Heinz Hall or a chamber orchestra concert indulging my delight in classical music (especially newer work); picking up trash, volunteering at a neighborhood event, or communing with our many caring and creative neighbors on the North Side; bopping around smaller art galleries and working on my budding (still extremely small) collection of local visual art
